Course Overview

This T Level qualification is a two year program split into 2 main components: the Core, which is assessed by external exams and covers subject areas such as business management and health and safety and an employer set project; and an Occupational Specialism which is assessed by synoptic assignment.

Within the Occupational Specialism students will cover five performance outcomes:

1) Apply research methods to collect and analyse scientific information on animal conservation
2) Observe the behaviour, security and breeding practices of animals
3) Plan for and manage the good health and welfare of animals
4) Carry out safe animal handling practices
5) Plan, perform, record and communicate findings of scientific investigations in animal science (please note the performance outcomes are currently subject to change)

Students can progress from studying the T-level into employment and/or onto University as they are designed to develop excellent employability skills as well as the academic skills required for higher education study.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSE’s at a grade 4 or above, including English, maths and science (subject to change)

Course information

This programme allows for the study of a range of animals and provides the development of knowledge and understanding of animal behaviour, biology, nutrition, research methods, conservation, welfare and ethics and safe working practices within the animal industry with the core underpinning knowledge of the animal sciences

This course will be delivered on site four days per week with a day left for independent study. When in College, students participate in a range of theory and practical lessons. There is also an extensive industry placement programme to undertake where learners have the opportunity to gain vital employability skills and network with local employers experiencing first hand the industries they are interested in progressing into.

Assessment takes place through the completion of examinations, synoptic assessment, homework and successful completion of industry placement.

T Level Agriculture, Environmental and Animal Care – Animal Science

You will complete a minimum of 9 weeks of external indsutry placement across the program of learning.

This course can lead to employment within Veterinary Nursing. Animal Science Research. Animal Nutrition. Animal Breeding & Genetics as well as progression to university.
